Affiliate Disclosure

This page explains exactly how UrRecover makes money, in plain terms, because you should know that before you take a recommendation from us.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the vendor pays us a commission. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid otherwise — the commission comes out of the vendor’s margin, not your pocket.

Any link that goes through urrecover.com/go/ is an affiliate link. Product name links, “Free Download” buttons and “Visit Website” buttons in our review boxes all use it. These links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", which is the tagging Google requires for paid links.

Links to our own articles, and links to sources and documentation, are not affiliate links.

Who pays us

We participate in affiliate programmes run by data recovery software vendors, including but not limited to CleverFiles (Disk Drill), EaseUS, Stellar Information Technology, Wondershare and Tenorshare. Programmes are administered through networks such as Impact, ShareASale and the vendors’ own systems.

We also recommend software that pays us nothing at all — PhotoRec, TestDisk, Windows File Recovery and Recuva — because in some situations those are the right answer.

How we keep it honest

  • Commission rate is not a scoring input. Rankings come from our published test methodology, which measures recovery rate, structure reconstruction, safety, value and usability.
  • We buy every licence at retail. No free review copies, no vendor-supplied hardware.
  • No paid placement. No vendor can buy a position, a badge or a mention.
  • No pre-publication review. Vendors see our articles when you do.
  • Free tools compete directly. They appear in the same rankings and outrank paid products where the testing says they should.
  • We tell you not to buy when you should not. Our free versus paid guide exists specifically to talk people out of unnecessary purchases.

Amazon and hardware

Where we link to storage hardware, those may be Amazon Associates links. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Our advice, and its limits

Everything on this site is general information based on our own testing. It is not a guarantee that any product will recover your specific data, because that depends on factors we cannot see — what was overwritten, how the drive failed, how long it kept running afterwards.

Always use a tool’s free scan and preview before buying. Every product we recommend offers one. If the preview does not show your files, do not buy the licence.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link is monetised, just ask: contact us. We will tell you.
